Jakob Oksbjerg

Bio

Jakob Oksbjerg is a multi-disciplinary artist working primarily within the medium of painting; he also employs elements of sculpture, textile production, and drawing. Seeking inspiration through a variety of personal experiences, oneiric visions, and traditional folklore, he creates illustrations of mythological landscapes and abstract human figures and explores themes of mysticism and spiritual belief.

Through his fascination with the beauty of nature, Oksbjerg uses a captivating array of quietly intense palettes of earth tones, lush vegetative greens, and pulsing ultramarines to invent an almost dream-like universe. Oksbjerg’s visual language alternates between being expressive and subtle, combined with a symbolic simplicity that leaves room for nuanced interpretations. The viewer is invited on a reflective journey in the hopes of finding personal resonance and meaning in each of his pieces.
